For passengers and assistants
From the car to the aircraft door, and back.
What happens at each step, what to tell the team before the day, and the two rules worth checking early: pets, and the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation.
Departing: from the car to the aircraft, in five steps.
-
The car stops at the terminal door.
Cars come straight to the door. If you have booked the car park, the car stays in the secure car park while you are away, and there are electric vehicle chargers there. The handling team takes the luggage from the car to the aircraft, so nobody in your party carries a bag through the building.
step-free, from the car to the lounge
-
Through the terminal, with one team.
One single-storey terminal and one handling team, so the people who met the car are the people who load the aircraft. Departing passengers are usually through in a few minutes, once the aircraft is ready. No figure is promised: the aircraft sets the time, not the terminal.
no names on screens or boards
-
The lounge, or a room to yourselves.
Hot and cold drinks, light refreshments and Wi-Fi in the main lounge. Book the private room and your party does not share the lounge. Catering, newspapers and flowers can be ordered through handling.
a small terrace, facing the apron
-
Out to the apron.
With notice, and once security checks are done, your car can be escorted airside to the aircraft. Help boarding can be arranged too: ask with the handling request.

-
The aircraft door.
The luggage is already aboard, loaded by the team that met the car. Operations confirmed this departure time when it gave the flight permission. For an international flight, Border Force clearance is arranged on request through Operations.

Through the terminal, and customs if the flight is international.
For an international flight, Border Force clearance is arranged on request through Operations, with at least 24 hours' notice where possible. Visitors who need an ETA must have it before they travel.

The car at the terminal door.
Your car meets you at the door, step-free from the lounge. If you need a car with a driver, the handling team arranges one.

What to tell the team before the day.
Put it all in the handling request, at least 24 hours before arrival. If the operator sends the request, give these details to the operator, or to handling with the flight's date and the aircraft's registration.
-
the team carries it, car to aircraft
-
the car park has electric vehicle chargers
-
ordered from local suppliers
-
the meeting room seats up to 8
-
step-free from the car to the lounge
-

The handling request does not ask for passport details. Do not send them with it.
No names on the screens, and a room to yourselves.
No passenger names are shown on screens or boards. Book the private room with the handling request and your party does not share the lounge.
The terminal is a single storey, step-free from the car to the lounge, with accessible toilets.
| Room | What it is |
|---|---|
| Lounge | Hot and cold drinks, light refreshments and Wi-Fi. |
| Private room | Booked with the handling request. |
| Meeting room | For up to 8 people. |
| Terrace | Small, outdoors, facing the apron. |
Pets and travel permission: two rules to check before anyone books.
Pets
Dogs, cats and ferrets are welcome on flights within the UK and from Ireland.
Ashlow is not an approved entry point for pets arriving from anywhere else. Pets entering Great Britain from outside the UK and Ireland must travel on an approved route with an approved carrier. Tell the team before you book and they will say which arrangements apply.
The UK Electronic Travel Authorisation
Visitors from visa-exempt countries need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling to the UK. British and Irish citizens do not. Each person needs one, including children.
Flying on a paid charter
Any paid flight that is not scheduled is commercial air transport. The operator must hold an Air Operator Certificate, and you are entitled to know the operator's name. The CAA explains how to check.
Send the details once, at least 24 hours ahead.
If it is short notice, call: the team takes a request with less notice when it can confirm it.
